I am currently the Product Design Director of the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Exchange Limited, the China Regional Head of the US China Business Association, an Honorary Doctorate from Sias University, an author of multiple academic monographs, and an inventor of multiple patents related to intellectual property transactions. Formerly served as a senior translator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.


Dr. Wu Gaolin obtained a Bachelor's degree in English and American Language and Literature from Shanghai Foreign Studies University in 1985. In 1986, he received training as a professional diplomat at Beijing Foreign Affairs College. In 1993, he pursued a Master's degree in Art and Museum Management at Illinois State University. In 1994, he obtained a Master's degree in History from East Illinois University, and later received an Honorary Doctorate from Sias University.
           


In the 1980s, Dr. Wu worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and was repeatedly sent abroad to accompany national leaders on missions, serving as an English translator for Chinese and foreign leaders. From 1990 to 1992, Dr. Wu worked at the Department of Foreign Languages at Sun Yat sen University and hosted English programs on Guangdong Provincial Television for several consecutive years. Since 1995, Dr. Wu has been active in the political and business circles of China and the United States, proficient in political and economic, cultural and artistic, intellectual property, technological innovation, and business exchanges between the two countries.


He has been committed to the development of cultural, artistic, and intellectual property industries for a long time. In 2008, he participated in the establishment of the world's first intellectual property exchange, and in 2009, he assisted the Shenzhen United Property Exchange in establishing an innovative technology property exchange. At the end of 2011, I was invited to discuss with the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department the general direction of exploring high-end intellectual property trade in Hong Kong. I have been serving as the head of the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Exchange since February 2012. In August 2018, he was hired as a practical guidance expert for the National Intellectual Property Operation Public Service Platform Financial Innovation (Hengqin) Pilot Platform. In 2019, he was awarded the title of "2019 Charming China - Innovation Economy Leader". In 2022, he was selected as an expert in the Shenzhen Intellectual Property Expert Database. On July 26, 2020, as an invited expert, he participated in an online sharing event organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Administration for Market Regulation. Mr. Wu Gaolin conducted an online live broadcast with the theme of "Realizing Art Copyright, Where Are We Going? The Unstoppable Era of" Art Finance ". The response was very enthusiastic, with over 470000 online viewers and over 10000 likes!
Dr. Wu is the inventor of multiple "intellectual property transactions" patents (such as a trading method and system for software information, a market determination method and system for software information, and an exit method and system for software information), as well as the overall planner of multiple computer software copyright project systems (such as Intellectual Property Operations (Android), (IOS), etc.) and work registration copyrights (such as CIPO logo, SIPR logo, etc.).


Dr. Wu has published multiple academic monographs (such as participating in discussions on the book "On China" by former US Secretary of State Henry Alfred Kissinger, publishing memorandums such as "JC Brand Sales Memorandum", "OLED Series Contract Pre Sales Memorandum for Intellectual Property Standard Rights and Interests", "Hao Hejun's Taiwan Sketching Works" Sales Memorandum, "Empress Huanzhu" Brand License Standardization Contract Memorandum, etc.).


Dr. Wu has been researching the full text translation of the Chinese classic classics "Tao Te Ching" and "Zizhi Tongjian" for over 30 years, actively promoting and promoting the inheritance of Chinese culture overseas. In 1994, after pursuing a master's degree in history from the University of East Illinois, Dr. Wu began to pay attention to classical Chinese literature such as Laozi's "Tao Te Ching" and "Ziye Tongjian". He discovered that there were over a thousand English translations of the Tao Te Ching, and the translations varied greatly. Even if the same sentence was put together, it could not be seen that it was describing the same thing, which was truly astonishing. Dr. Wu began to carefully study the various annotated versions and Chinese English translations of the Tao Te Ching and found that there were many problems inside. He also understood that the Tao Te Ching had the second highest circulation worldwide, second only to the Bible.


In early 2008, Dr. Wu was fortunate enough to be invited by Dr. Henry Alfred Kissinger, an old friend of the Chinese people and former Secretary of State of the United States, to help him organize ancient Chinese literature. At that time, he was writing "On China", in which he planned to cite a passage from the 1891 James Legge translation of the Laozi Tao Te Ching when discussing the relationship between countries. After analyzing this passage, Dr. Wu found that there was a great debate in the academic community about this sentence, because the Laozi silk book A unearthed in Mawangdui in 1973 had a single word with the passage that Dr. Kissinger wanted to cite. Poor, but the meaning of this passage is completely opposite, which does not match the meaning of the passage that Dr. Kissinger intends to quote. After Dr. Wu Gaolin reported this result to Henry Alfred Kissinger, he decided not to quote this sentence anymore. Dr. Wu, as a translator trained in China, has been in the United States for more than 30 years and has a deep understanding of the essence of Chinese and Western culture. Therefore, he hopes to promote classic Chinese works overseas.


Dr. Wu is particularly skilled in art optimization and can be regarded as a scholar of art. He has successfully led, planned, and co hosted multiple art exhibitions and events, including the 2011 Shanghai US China Art Exchange Exhibition, the 2012 Guangzhou US China Art Exchange Exhibition, the Giovanni Marradi Piano Concert at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 29, 2015, and the Shenzhen First Station of the 2019 Hao Hejun Bay Global Tour of Works. He has a wide range of good relationships and deep friendships with world-renowned figures such as Huang Yongyu, American green painter Abiola Akintola, Han Meilin, Lin Fengsu, and Hao Hejun. He is also passionate about collecting art, and his collection has a clear characteristic, with all his works being works of famous and highly representative contemporary writers.
