Former member of the US Securities and Exchange Commission
Mr. Rohr Cumbers is a member of the Obama Presidential Intelligence Advisory Committee, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious committees in the history of the U.S. Presidential Advisory Committee. During the Bush administration, Mr. Cumbers was nominated by Congress twice since 2002 and appointed by the President as a member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, serving in that position until 2007.
During his tenure at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Cumbers presided over hundreds of complex regulatory enforcement cases involving the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Investment Company Act of 1940, and the Investment Advisory Act of 1940. Mr. Cumbers has given numerous public speeches and published articles on a wide range of topics, including the implementation of the Dodd Frank, Sarbanes Oxley Act, corporate governance, director responsibility, corporate penalties, international accounting and auditing standards, securities law reform, SRO and market reform, retirement investment protection, research and analysis of conflicts, and internationalization of the securities market.
